PVC insulated window frames can be assembled with fasteners, but are more commonly welded using the hot plate technique, in which a heated metal plate is inserted between the two halves of the joint, providing radiant heat to the opposing faces. The heating plate is then removed, and the pieces forming the joint are forced together for a suitable time under suitable pressure while the softened material forms a strong joint and then cools.
